Chelle got me to read Cybelle's Secret and I thought that was wonderful. Although Marillier can be so cruel! The only reason I didn't pick up Son of the Shadows, is because I the ending was such that I didn't have to and I've had so much else to read. It's funny though. We picked this for a genre study at work for a group of folks who don't normally read fantasy and most of them have really liked it and they are fighting over Son of the Shadows! I love getting glimpses into other readers' minds like this. :) I've not read the Kelly book, though I've heard really good things about it. I couldn't resist. I'm don't want to pressure you or anything, but it's true you should read Silent on the Moor. It was very good.
